How we do Agile

We're not a "follow the rules" System Integrator...In the last years we have been using, providing and integrating several tools, that help companies to aproach Agile development. Sometimes this is not a easy process, but in the end every single actor will win.

We know there is no single recipe for practicing agile development, but we try to aproach our customers with a practical and simple view of the development process.

We trully believe that simplicity and collaboration are the most valuable keys to this process.

How can Agile improve project management?

Planning

Effective planning is a critical issue in every projects! Using index cards, managing iterations and even doing program management are tangible ways we go about planning to fulfill our customer purpose. From releases to features, to story cards and estimating story units, hear our developers and technical leads share their reflections on how agile planning works with our tools.

All our teams utilise story cards because it allows you to visualise the work remaining in an iteration. Some of our teams use GreenHopper to manage story cards within JIRA and some teams prefer paper cards and corkboards. Either way works as long as teams are disiplined about updating.

Program management

Program management is probably the last term you would expect associated with agile software development but in practice, agile program management is highly useful at Xpand IT. By rolling up all of the agile projects in a lightweight view, Xpand IT technical teams are able to align around varied agile projects while adapting flexibly to release changes.

Comunication

Constant, effective communication is vital to the success of any process. We diferenciate our selfs by being the most open company that we can. So, whether it is through face-to-face interactions, super-accessible content on our Customer knowledge base (wiki), realtime project control with JIRA, we ensure our processes and tools help our customers tuned and aware of what's going on in the most efficient way we know.
